Hedi Slimane | MOCA, LA

Noted former fashion designer turned photographer Hedi Slimane’s “California Song” exhibition is coming to MOCA in Los Angeles. This is the first West Coast solo museum exhibition of the photographerʼs work. California Song is the outcome that spans the photographerʼs “California period” and traces his explorations of urban youth culture and artistic communities, through installations of photographic essays, exhibitions, and publications. According to MOCA Director Jeffrey Deitch,
Slimane is best known for his work at Yves Saint Laurent and Dior Homme as an art director and designer; in recent years he has made a turn into photography, photographing people like grunge heiress Frances Bean Cobain. His latest show will be at the MOCA Pacific Design Center, running from November 12, 2011 to January 22, 2012.
